Watercolor painting requires a special mindset. The water dances on the surface and the pigment bled like magic when using the proper techniques. There are some combinations of art media that just simply work well with each other. One of these combinations is pen and ink and watercolor - more commonly referred to as "line and wash". We use this combination often in the class.

Pastels are one of the most versatile mediums for creating art, combining both drawing and painting techniques in a unique mark-making experience. Pastels and the traditional subject of landscapes are another perfect match.

Acrylics are perhaps the perfect medium for learning the basic concepts of painting. They are clean and easy to control, yet capable of producing well-developed paintings. This makes acrylic painting a clear choice for beginners to dive into.

Oil Painting is the most advanced painting media and combines many techniques. We begin all pieces with an under painting which is a classic Renaissance technique. Then work on color blocking applications, glazing techniques, brushwork and color theory as applied to atmospheric perspective.
